Within Vibe Studio, one of our innovative game development teams, we’re offering a technical internship within the mathematics team for individuals interested in the math that powers great gameplay. In this support-focused role, the Game Mathematician Intern will collaborate with experienced Game Design Mathematicians to assist in the creation, simulation, and documentation of math models used in casino games. The position provides hands-on experience in how probability, logic, and structure come together to drive engaging and compliant game mechanics. Beyond gaining real-world exposure, this internship also plays a meaningful role in supporting the technical excellence and innovation behind IGT’s next generation of games.
What You’ll Do
- Provide support to the math team in the development of game models throughout the game design process.
- Assist with organizing, updating, and formatting technical documents such as par sheets, XML control files, and payout data.
- Help maintain data files and version control of math documents and tools.
- Support mathematicians in running and monitoring math simulations.
- Assist in organizing simulation output for analysis and review.
- Assist with preparations for team reviews.
- Support the validation of math engines through test case execution and documentation.
- Provide cross-functional support for the math team by assisting with communication and coordination.
- Support general administrative and documentation tasks to help keep projects moving and organized.
What We're Looking For
- Current student or early-career candidate pursuing a degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
- Familiarity with probability, combinatorics, or basic game theory is a plus.
- Attention to detail and comfort working with large datasets and spreadsheets.
- Strong organizational skills and willingness to learn technical documentation standards.
- Enthusiasm for games, logic puzzles, or systems design.

At IGT, we consider a wide range of factors in determining compensation, including background, skills, experience, and work location. These factors can cause your compensation to vary. The estimated starting compensation for this technical internship is $25/hr. The actual pay offered may end up being higher or lower. The Company will comply with all local pay requirements and collective bargaining agreements, where applicable.
Base pay is only one part of our Total Rewards program. Sales roles may be eligible for commission payments, while other roles are eligible for discretionary bonuses .
